Coffee Table Runner for Mum

I made this little runner for Mum’s coffee table as a ‘just because’ pressie…. It had nothing to do with the hints she’d been giving out for some time!

I used ‘Josephine’ by French General for Moda fabric and thanks to some sneaky measuring beforehand I was able to make it just the right size…. Mum loved it!

California Girl Table Runner

I was given a lovely charm pack quite some time ago (thanks again Peg) that I'd been saving and decided it would make a lovely table runner after Miss 15 spilt nail polish on my favourite 'skinny verna' runner'.... I think I have a new favourite now.

The fabric was 'California Girl' by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda... and one charm pack is enough to make two of these runners so I can see myself making another one for the sideboard now too.

For Master 9

Another lovely day at Club Quilt today.... I managed to get this little runner finished for Master 9. It's something I've been going to make for a while now as the top of his nice cedar chest of drawers (a gift from his Grandma) is getting a little scratched.

Very simple 2.5" inch squares, quilted on the diagonal.... nice and boyish!

Mothers Day!

I had a wonderful Mothers Day on Sunday..... not only was I totally spoilt by my family but I got to spend a good bit of time with my Mum as well which is something I haven't been able to do much of lately. She has been away for almost four months looking after her own Mum and we've all missed her terribly.

My day started with brekky in bed (pancakes....Mmmm) and was followed by flowers, DVD's and a beautiful silver watch. Master 8 made me a lovely card and a book of vouchers with things like: I promise to be on my best behaviour and I promise to wash the dog (We don't even have a dog....maybe a bit of a hint on Master 8's part....lol). 

So now I can show you what I made my Mum:

Mum just loved it (she has been hinting for one of these for a while)........

and it looks great on her big timber dining table.

Celebrate - a finish!

I managed to get my "Lets Celebrate" table topper finished during the week.... and I just LOVE it!

The photo's don't really do it justice....I must invest in a camera that has a macro setting one day....but at least it looks white and not blue in these pics!

More F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Another of the items I sent in my F.R.I.E.N.D.S swap parcel to Khris...... A Runner made using the Skinny Verna tutorial from Moda Bake Shop and some lovely Frolic charms squares I won from Princess Martha a while ago for helping her source a much-needed sewing book. Again, I used the No-snit Binding tutorial from You Go Girl... which means no hand sewing the binding down and a really neat finish....Love it!

Angel Story Runner

Another of my projects from the Club Quilt retreat last weekend:

I used the leftover fabric from my Angels Story quilt and the pattern was out of the Angels Story pattern book.

It turned out lovely and looks great on Miss 11's chest of drawers in her bedroom.

I love it!

Well I've finished my new runner for our sideboard...... and I think you'll agree it's just lovely (at least I think it is, which is what counts, right?).  It's now sitting on our sideboard covering up Miss 10's little mishap nicely, which means that I now don't get that furrow between my eyebrows every time I look at it (or Miss 10 a case of the guilts every time she looks at it) . So everyone's happy :)

I used the Moda Bakeshop tutorial here, but because I needed my runner to be a little larger, I used honey bun strips and cut them at 7" lengths instead of 5" and it fits perfectly. Finished size is 11" x 42.5".

I also used the No-snit binding tutorial from You Go Girl ...... which is fantastic. It was nice to be able to complete the binding quickly with no hand sewing at all and it gave me just the look I was after.
