Just in Time!

You may remember me helping my friend Jess to make her very first quilt for her Mum's 60th birthday pressie.........

Well, it was sent off for quilting a little while ago so I called my quilting Lady last week only to hear the very sad news that her machine was broken and she was waiting on parts to come from America! I passed the news on to Jess who was devastated as her Mum's birthday is this Friday! A couple of days later I got a phonecall from Sue saying her machine was fixed & she was dropping the quilt off straight away.....all done! *Happy Dance*

Sooooo.... last night I machine stitched the binding on (no time to teach Jess this time) and then did some of the hand stitching for her, before dropping it in to Jess today who is hoping to get the rest of the handstitching done tonight!Sue has done a lovely job of the quilting as usual. She tries so hard to always have things done in time for special occassions and has never let me down...... her efforts are greatly appreciated!

Until next time

More Goodies!

Here are a few more lovely goodies I received over Christmas:

A gorgeous hand-made Christmas Bon-bon that I received in our secret Santa swap at work...... It was full of chocolates which seem to have since dissappeared! I wonder who it could be from???

A great book and some lovely fat quarters from my Mum & Dad...... Mum has finally worked out i'm not so hard to buy for after all if she sticks with craft items! The cutting matt they're photographed on was my pressie from Hubby and the kids..... a generous 24" x 36" which is twice the size of my old one and so much easier to work with!

And a very cute Thankyou wallhanging from my friend Jess...... for giving her quilting lessons! Jess had to find someone other than me to give her lessons in hand stitching to make this as a surprise for me..... very sweet!
So as you can see i've been totally spoilt once again!
Take care

Off to the Quilter

It was an exciting week last week to get three quilts off to the quilter all at once..... i haven't had a chance to post about them sooner as i've been in Sydney for a concert all weekend and only just got home!

The first was my Angels Story quilt that i've already posted about, along with my friend Jess' first quilt which has had the borders put on it on Friday and Miss 10's (aka Little Miss Thimbles) very first quilt, which she's very pleased with!

Miss 10's gorgeous "stacked coin quilt" she made using the Moda bake shop tutorial and the lovely Soiree' fabric.

Jess' first quilt with it's completed borders made using Annie's "Town of Plenty" pattern and Winchester by Andover Fabrics. Unfortunately the photo's didn't turn out so well for this one but i can't re-take them now until it returns from the quilters.

Until next time, Happy Stitching!

Jess' First Quilt..... Day 2

A second day of sewing with Jess....... and her quilt top is almost done!
Now we just have to wait for a little more fabric to arrive so we can put the borders on.

I think her Mum is going to be delighted with it.

Until next time, Happy Stitching!

Jess' First Quilt

Another little project i have going at the moment is helping a friend of mine (Jess), to complete her first quilt for her Mum's very important 60th birthday.

Jess had her Mum choose the fabric, which is Winchester by Andover Fabrics from The Fat Quarter Shop and we're using a Hatched and Patched pattern called Town of Plenty (minus the stitchery blocks) as it's a nice simple quilt for a first attempt.

Here is a sneak peak of some of Jess' blocks to date:

Jess has already completed nearly 50 blocks and for a complete non-sewer, she's doing a great job............ and very little un-picking has been required so far! One more sewing day and the top should be complete.

And Jess....... You're not to show your Mum any more now until it's finished!

Until next time, Happy Stitching
